Genco were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a programme of fire door and compartmentation upgrades at Tesco Bitterne Express in Southampton. Valued at £20k, the works were completed over a two-day programme.
The project included repairs and adjustments to existing fire doors and frames, including timber splice repairs, re-lipping door edges and installing Grade 13 CE-marked butt hinges. Intumescent seals, fire door signage, pull handles, locksets and a new fire-rated glazing bead system were also installed to enhance the doors’ fire and smoke resistance.
New FD30s single and FD60s double fire-rated door sets were supplied and installed, complete with associated ironmongery, self-closing devices and push plates. Further works included fire-rated boarding to internal surfaces and the fire-stopping of service penetrations, gaps and openings using tested systems to improve compartmentation.
Following installation, the doors were tested, adjusted and commissioned to confirm correct self-closing operation and latch engagement. All associated areas were made good and left clean and tidy on completion
