Genco Fire Safety were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a programme of fire door replacement and remedial works at Tesco Bethnal Green Metro in London. Valued at £29k, the project was completed over a three-day programme.
The works included the removal and disposal of existing door sets, frames and associated ironmongery where full replacement was required, followed by the installation of new FD60s single and double fire-rated door sets. Certified rectangular Pyroglass vision panels and compliant ironmongery, including push plates, locksets and self-closing devices, were installed to the new doors.
Further improvements were made to existing fire doors and frames, including hinge replacement, new overhead door closers, intumescent brush seals and surface-mounted drop seals. Door stops and frame components were repositioned where required, with minor repairs and splice repairs completed to damaged door leaves.
All new and refurbished door sets were adjusted, tested and commissioned to confirm correct self-closing operation, latch engagement and operating clearances. Associated areas were made good and left clean and tidy on completion.
