Genco were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a comprehensive two-phase programme of external works, designed to upgrade, repair and future-proof the car park infrastructure while maintaining safe access and minimising disruption to store operations.
The project began with a seven-week civils programme involving extensive groundworks, replacement of the existing linear drainage channels and the installation of 340 new anti-ram bollards. A detailed survey and repair of the underground drainage network was also completed, alongside repairs to manholes and tactile paving and upgrades to the existing trolley bays. Updated surface and sub-surface drainage drawings were produced to provide an accurate record for future maintenance.
This was followed by a three-week resurfacing programme across the 22,000 m² car park. The entire area was resurfaced to a high-quality finish, with all line markings reinstated to match the existing layout and a new Click & Collect arrangement introduced to improve traffic flow, operational efficiency and customer accessibility.
Detailed phasing and traffic management plans, supported by underground live services surveys, enabled the works to be delivered safely while maintaining customer and operational access throughout.
The project was completed to a high standard, providing a significantly improved, durable and future-ready car park environment.
