Genco were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a programme of life safety and passive fire protection works at Tesco Crawley Downland Express in West Sussex. Valued at £19,134, the project was completed over a five-night programme.
The works involved the removal and reinstatement of shelving and ceilings to gain access to areas requiring fire-stopping, followed by the installation of tested 60-minute fire protection systems. Works were completed to walls and concrete soffits, with service penetrations around metal and plastic pipes and cables appropriately fire-stopped.
Further improvements included the installation of ablative batt systems, fire-rated ceilings and shaft walls, together with fire protection encasement to columns. Completed works were labelled and photographically recorded, with fire-stopping drawings and certification provided as part of the finished project.
