Genco were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a programme of life safety and passive fire protection works at Tesco Redfield Express in Bristol. Valued at £78k, the project was completed over a two-week programme comprising 10 shifts.
The works involved sealing cable and service penetrations through fire-rated walls and floors across key back-of-house areas, including stairwells, lift access areas, the electrical intake room, bulk storage areas and the means-of-escape corridor. Defective foam was removed and replaced with appropriate fire-stopping systems to strengthen fire compartmentation throughout the store.
Further improvements included the construction of fire-rated boxing around exposed services, the installation of fire pillows and batt within trunking, and a new intumescent grille within the electrical intake room. The works were carefully managed to maintain a safe working environment, with all affected areas left clean and tidy on completion.
